Help others and benefit yourself
A famous Chinese proverb says: "If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a month, get married. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody else."
If you are there for others, if you give them positive feelings and encourage them to think positively, you will also give yourself good, positive feelings. Just remember how you felt when you last helped someone. Many people describe the feeling that comes with helping as a warming satisfaction. And this is not by chance. Being there for someone else is one of the basic human needs. That it's good for ourselves is even scientifically proven. Various studies have shown that there is a direct connection between the feeling of happiness and the consciousness of generosity.
How to help others
If you are doing well financially, think of people who need financial help. Make a donation to an organization whose purpose you think is good. In the brain, the awareness of a made donation activates the regions that are also addressed when a reward is received.
Time is much more valuable because, theoretically at least, we could always earn more money, but we only have a certain amount of time. Give some of your time to your children, your partner, your parents, your friends, and everyone who deserves it.
Mental support is quite simply possible. Smile instead of rushing through the supermarket with a gloomy look. Not only do you give other shoppers and employees a positive feeling, but also yourself. The compliment is just as effective, provided you are serious about it.
Practical help is also needed here and there. Do not only support your parents, children, and friends, but also pay attention to other people in your environment. Perhaps older neighbors would be grateful for your help.
Share your positive feelings
